Stars on Ice is a weekly show on the 1st channel of Russian TV. Premiere of the program was held on 2nd September 2006. Olympic champions, stars of theater, cinema and TV participate in this mega-project.
One of the partners is Olympic champion and another partner is a person that has never played skating (or never did it professionally). There are few levels during which pairs compete and develop their skills. Jury and audience give marks and finally pair with the highest marks becomes a winner.
The show is aimed to increase interest in skating and other kind of sports among Russians. In addition, as the show proved, skating in pairs is more then just a sport. It is an art.
